§ Sir Paul BeresfordMy Department has received representations on the import into the United Kingdom of crab-eating monkeys from Vietnam. The UK and Vietnam are parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, which regulates international trade in wildlife. Under CITES, crab-eating monkeys can be imported into the UK from Vietnam, provided certain strict conditions are met. However, no such imports have been authorised in recent years.
