It has been estimated, using data from the general household survey, that the prevalence of cancer in790W the adult population is of the order of 1 per cent. In 1989, latest available figures, there were 190,590 registrations of newly diagnosed cases of cancer in England, excluding non-melanoma skin cancers. Projections for 2015 are not available and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
