To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he makes of the cost to his Department of setting up the new North Lanarkshire council; and if he will make a statement.

[holding answer 28 November 1994]: The cost to my Department of setting up the new Lanarkshire council has not been quantified but is likely to be minimal.
