§ Mr. KirkwoodTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will seek to amend the law to impose a duty on the prosecuting authorities to advise victims of crime and their families about the progress of criminal proceedings in which they were involved including advanced notification of hearing dates, adjournments and grants of bail to the defendant.
§ Mr. MacleanThe prosecuting authorities are well aware of the importance of keeping victims advised of case progress, and every effort is being made to ensure510W that this should be done to the fullest extent practicable. I am not persuaded that legislation is required to achieve this.
