§ Sir George YoungIt is estimated that 450,000 married couples and single people receive mortgage interest relief in Wales in 1994–95 at a cost to the Exchequer of £130 million. The estimates are based on the regional distribution of mortgages shown by the 1993 family expenditure survey applied to the United Kingdom total estimates for 1994–95.
