§ Mr. Robin SquireEducation's share of the 1993–94 local authority grant settlement was £16.8 billion, 2.6 per cent. higher than the comparable figure for the previous year. It was for local authorities to decide how to meet the cost of the 1993 teachers' pay award from within this total.
