HC Deb 26 May 1994 vol 244 c304W
Ms Primarolo

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment she has made as to which clinical services are not suitable to be contracted out of the NHS.

Mr. Sackville

It is for trusts, general practitioner fundholders and health authorities to determine the most appropriate options for the provision of services, including clinical services. Decisions are made on the basis of which source of provision, be it national health service, non-NHS or a combination of both, will provide the best quality of service for patients and cost effective use of NHS resources.
