HL Deb 09 May 1994 vol 554 c78WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why Ms Josefina Pedere was detained at Campsfield Detention Centre for four months until release on 29th April; and whether they asked any voluntary organisation to be responsible for Ms Pedere as an alternative to detention.

Earl Ferrers

Ms Pedere was arrested as an overstayer, and she admitted that she had deliberately lost touch with the Home Office. She had no close connections with the United Kingdom, and was unable to provide a stable address.

Following an offer of accommodation and support, Ms Pedere was released from detention on 29th April on a restriction order.
