HC Deb 03 May 1994 vol 242 cc422-3W
Mrs. Jane Kennedy

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what estimate he has made of the cost of expanding the Benefits Agency medical service following the introduction of the incapacity for work benefit.

Mr. Scott

Information is not available in the form requested. We estimate that the changes announced in the Social Security (Incapacity for Work) Bill will add some £40 million per year to the Department's administrative costs for 1995–96 and 1996–97 and £10 million per year from 1997–98.
