§ Mr. EnrightTo ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what activities his Department has undertaken or is about to undertake in the context of UNESCO's convention concerning the protection of the world cultural and natural heritage.
§ Mr. SproatMy Department has reviewed possible candidates for inclusion in the world heritage list and is currently considering revised criteria published by UNESCO on the nomination of cultural landscapes. My Department is also funding a three-year programme by the International Council on Monuments and Sites United Kingdom to produce monitoring reports for the English world heritage sites and to encourage the production of comprehensive management plans for these sites. Guidance on the world heritage convention was included in draft "Planning Policy Guidance Note 15", which was issued for consultation last year and will be published in final form later this year.
