HC Deb 31 March 1994 vol 240 c906W
Mr. Pickthall

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what action she is taking to assess the extent to which dumping of Spanish iceberg lettuce on the British market is undermining British growers; and what corrective action she is prepared to take.

Mr. Jack

Lettuce prices on United Kingdom markets are currently extremely low, largely as a result of over-supply within the Community. However, as I told the hon. Gentleman during the debate on the common agricultural policy on 24 March, if he can provide firm evidence to support these claims of unfair competition we will pursue the matter vigorously with the Commission and the member states concerned.
