To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancster, what progress he has made in appointing members of the three new research councils.

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences research council, Engineering and Physical Sciences research council, and Particle Physics and Astronomy research council, will come into being on 1 April 1994. I have appointed the following members to serve on the councils:
