To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what percentage of public appointments made by his Department in 1993 were of(a) Asians and (b) black people; and if he will list their names.

Mr. Goodlad

The percentage of(a) Asians and (b) black people appointed to public bodies by my Department in 1993 was:

  1. (a)13.33 per cent.
  2. (b)0 per cent.

It is not our policy to provide details of the ethnic origins of appointees.
