To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what role and status David Hart has in his Department; what are his terms and conditions of employment; and when he was appointed.

Mr. Hanley'

Mr. Hart is not an employee of the Ministry of Defence. He is one of a number of people who provide unpaid advice to my right hon. and learned Friend from time to time. He has carried out this role since July 1993.
