To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list for the last 12 months how many parliamentary questions he has referred to one of his Department's agencies for answer; and what percentage of parliamentary questions to his Department this represents.

During the period 16 March 1993 to 15 March 1994, 202 parliamentary questions were referred for answer to the Employment Service, the only agency in the Department with responsibility for replying to parliamentary questions on operational matters. This figure represents 10.1 per cent. of all parliamentary questions replied to by the Department.
