To ask the Secretary of State for Employment, pursuant to his answer of 3 March,Official Report, columns 867–68, what was the expected expenditure on each place on North Norfolk Action and the actual expenditure in the first six months of operation; and if he will break down the expenditure to date into (a) provider fee, (b) allowances, (c) fares to interview, (d) publicity, (e) evaluation and (f) Employment Service running costs, including staff costs and payment of allowances.

The Secretary of State has asked me to answer your Parliamentary Question about the expected expenditure on each place on North Norfolk Action and the actual expenditure in the first six months of operation; and a breakdown of expenditure incurred to date.
The expected expenditure for North Norfolk Action was £3,263 per place. The actual expenditure for the first six months of North Norfolk Action was approximately £2,850 per place.
The expenditure to date broken down as you requested, is as follows:
£ (a) Provider fees 187,950 (b) Allowances 85,178 (c) Fares to interview 5,632 (d) Publicity 1,500 (e) Evaluation —1 (f) Running costs 58,000 1 External evaluation starts on 22 March and is expected to cost in the region of £25,250.
