To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what new initiatives he plans to reduce youth unemployment in London.

The local Employment Service and training and enterprise councils deliver a wide range of employment, enterprise and training programmes to help young people in the area find the best and quickest route to employment. The Government intend to improve the range of opportunities available to school leavers still further in London and elsewhere by introducing modern appren-ticeships in 1995.
