To ask the President of the Board of Trade how many bottles of(a) whisky and gin and (b) sherry and port were consumed by his private offices in 1993–94.

An accurate assessment of the quantity of these drinks actually consumed is not possible as stock levels on 1 April 1993 are not known.

The cost of purchases are included in the entertainment expenditure for my Department which is published in the annual report.

Mr. Boyes

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what was the cost of new furniture for his private office during the year 1993–94.

Mr. Heseltine

Such purchases are included within my Department's overall administration expenditure which is published every year in the annual report.
