To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what further plans he has for surveys of the proportion of car owners who regularly use motorways.

Independent surveys last year broadly confirmed surveys carried out for the Department in 1992 and recorded in the Green Paper "Paying for Better Motorways". All show that about half of drivers regularly use motorways. We have no plans for further surveys.
