§ Mr. CurryIt is the responsibility of local authorities themselves, both members and officers, to take measures to prevent and detect fraud and corruption in their affairs. The Audit Commission's recent report on probity in the public sector concluded that
probity in local government is generally in good order".There is no room for complacency, however; fraud and corruption are always to be condemned, wherever they occur.
