To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what is his estimate of the number of females in Wales affected by the abolition of the wages councils.
§ Mr. Michael Forsyth
It was estimated that in 1992 there were some 120,000 workers, men and women aged 21 or over, in Wales covered by the wages councils. Estimates of the number of women formerly covered by the councils in the constituent parts of Great Britain are not available.
