§ Mr. Llwyd
To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department on how many occasions in each year since 1987 his Department has written to individual judges regarding their interpretation of the workings of the legal system; if he will list each such occasion; and if he will make a statement.
Mr. John M. Taylor
My Department conducts a great deal of correspondence with the judiciary on a wide variety of topics which is usually conducted on a confidential basis. Information on the precise volume and nature of correspondence is not held centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
