To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security by how much the savings disregard of £3,000 would have to be increased to have the same value as when it was introduced in 1988.

Mr. Burt

An increase of £960 would be required to restore the real value of the £3,000 disregard, at 1993–94 prices, to its level in 1988.
