§ Dr. MawhinneyIn 1992–93, general practitioners in Great Britain received an intended average net income of £40,010 for the provision of general medical services. The average earnings of a consultant, whose pay is agreed nationally, were £53,450 in the same year. Accident and emergency consultants may have their pay negotiated locally if they work in a national health service trust.
