The Secretary of State has asked me to reply to your questions about the number of men and women who have been helped by Job Interview Guarantee.The information available is set out in the attached table and shows the total number of people who have taken part in and been placed into jobs through Job Interview Guarantee (JIG) since it began in September 1989.We collect statistical information on the total numbers of people participating in JIG but this is not broken down by gender. However, a survey carried out in May 1992 showed that 71 per cent. were males and 29 per cent. female.Whilst we collect details of how many people go into a job through JIG, there is no follow up at the three and six month stages. To do so would necessitate expensive tracking mechanisms at a disproportionate cost.I hope this is helpful.
