§ Mr. AlisonTo ask the President of the Board of Trade what was the value of United Kingdom exports of computers in the latest year for which figures are available; and if he will make a statement.
801W
§ Mr. NeedhamThe United Kingdom exported computers worth £3.8 billion in 1992, the last full year for which data are available. Exports of computers in the first nine months of 1993 were worth £3.5 billion. Due to changes in the system of collecting trade data, figures for 1993 as a whole are not yet comprehensive enough for direct comparisons with earlier data. However, the value of United Kingdom exports of computers in 1993, as a whole, are expected to reach a record level.
