HC Deb 02 March 1994 vol 238 c721W
Ms Mowlam

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what has been the outcome of his officials' discussions with the Department of the Environment in respect of their review of certain aspects of the legislation to protect ancient monuments, historic buildings and conservation areas, outlined on page 53 of the Government's White Paper, "Deregulation: Cutting Red Tape."

Mr. Brooke

My right hon. Friend and I will be publishing in late spring or early summer the final version of planning policy guidance note 15, which will reflect the outcome of our review of various regulations affecting historic buildings and conservation areas, on which we consulted last year. I shall also shortly be issuing a revised Ancient Monuments (Class Consents) Order, which will clarify and simplify the procedures for the approval of certain minor works affecting scheduled ancient monuments.
