§ Mr. MorleyTo ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment she has made of the extent of a link between IGF-1 levels in milk and serious gastro-intestinal disorders in humans; and what research her Department has undertaken into the link.
§ Mr. SackvilleIGF-1 is a naturally occurring hormone in humans. Human blood normally contains 10 times the concentration of IGF-1 as that found in cows' milk. Any contribution to this from ingestion of milk would be minimal.
The Department has undertaken no research into the link between IGF-1 levels in milk and serious gastro-intestinal disorders in humans.
