§ Mr. Michael ForsythThe European Commission opened formal negotiations on the United Kingdom objective 3 plan on 27 April. Subsequently, there have been two further negotiating meetings. The United Kingdom has consistently pressed for speedy progress and will continue to do so.

§ Mr. Michael ForsythThe Great Britain plan for European social fund objective 3 in 1994–99 outlines the purposes for which the Government propose to use the money. A copy of this document is in the Library. The plan has not yet been agreed by the European Commission.
