§ Mr. ByersTo ask the Secretary of State for Education what is the expected cost of running the meetings of the Funding Agency for Schools board and its committees and sub-committees in 1994–95; what is the sum payable to a board member attending a meeting; and how many board meetings, committees and sub-committees are likely to be held in 1994–95.
§ Mr. Robin SquireArrangements for the funding agency's internal meetings are a matter for the agency itself. Board members, apart from the chairman who receives an annual fee, are entitled to claim a fee of £155 for days on which they are transacting agency business. Members may also claim travel and subsistence expenses incurred on those days.
§ Mr. ByersTo ask the Secretary of State for Education what are the budgeted running costs of the Funding Agency for Schools in 1994–95; what amounts are provided for(a) premises, (b) staffing, (c) travel, (d) entertaining and hospitality and (e) general; and what are the projected running costs in 1995–96 and 1996–97.
§ Mr. Robin SquireThe Government's main estimates provide for up to £12 million for the funding agency's running costs in 1994–95. Actual outturn of costs will depend on a number of factors, including growth in the number of grant-maintained schools. The detailed split of the total between different budget heads is a matter for the funding agency. Provision for future years will be decided each year as part of the annual public expenditure survey round.
