Mr. Tony Lloyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Education how many 16 and 17-year-olds were in full-time education or training in each quarter since January 1988.

Quarterly counts of numbers in schools and further education colleges are not available. The full-time numbers aged 16 and 17 in England in each academic year are given in the table. The figures include some young people who were in college as part of their youth training.
