§ Mr. KeyOur target is to reduce road casualties. Reducing vehicle speeds can make a major contribution to this and is a key element in our road safety strategy. However, it is only one of many road safety measures and the speed distribution on different roads varies so widely that there would be little benefit in establishing secondary targets for reducing speeds.
