§ Mr. Barnes
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many sites of special scientific interest are listed in Northern Ireland, giving in each case their location and indicating which are at risk from proposed developments.

§ Mr. Tim Smith
There are currently 55 areas of special scientific interest in Northern Ireland; a list of them, with locations, has been placed in the Library.
It is believed that no areas of special scientific interest are threatened by development at this time.
