Mr. Barnes

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what information he holds on the levels of rent being charged in(a) the public sector, (b) the private sector and (c) by housing associations.

The Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland holds information on the levels of rent being charged as follows:

  1. (a) public sector: average weekly rent of £29.63 from 1 April 1994 1
  2. (b) private sector: no information is held
  3. (c) housing associations: average rents at 31 March 1994 are shown on the table below.
