Expenditure on research into Channel tunnel safety is not separately identified. Total planned expenditure on research in 1995–96 is £38.8 million. The allocation of expenditure between programmes for 1995–96 has not yet been settled, pending the outcome of the 1994 Public Expenditure Survey.
