To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what research she has conducted into the epidemiology of BSE in the siblings of affected cattle.

The occurrence of BSE in siblings has naturally been an integral part of research studies to determine whether susceptibility to BSE has a genetic component. To date, these studies have revealed that the genetic make-up of cattle does not play a major role in their susceptibility to BSE.
