§ Mr. Win GriffithsTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list by local education authority the grant-maintained schools which had specific units or support services for children with special educational needs when they attained grant-maintained status and indicate whether these units or support services are still available.
§ Sir Wyn RobertsDetails of the grant-maintained schools in Wales were given in my reply of 9 December 1993 and my right hon. Friend's reply of 4 July 1994 to the hon. Members for Alyn and Deeside (Mr. Jones) and for Caerphilly (Mr. Davies). All GM schools had support services when they were approved for grant-maintained status, and Ysgol Bryn Elian and St. Cyres had designated special needs units attached to them. The schools' change of status has in no way affected their availability.
§ Mr. Win GriffithsTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list by local education authority the number and percentage of children in each grant-maintained school with statements of special educational needs.
§ Sir Wyn RobertsThe numbers and percentages of children in grant-maintained schools with statements of special educational needs in Wales in each local education authority are shown in the following table. This information was not collected from individual schools in 1993.
