To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the average annual rate of economic growth from 1964 to 1973 and from 1979 to the latest possible date, together with the reasons for any difference.

Rates of economic growth can be calculated from the estimates for gross domestic product published inEconomic Trends, which is available in the Members' Library. There are many influences on the rate of economic growth.
