§ 22. Mr. PawseyTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the amount of tree clearance currently taking place in the United Kingdom; and what is the annual rate of replanting.
§ Sir Hector MonroThe Forestry Commission fells and replants about 8,000 hectares of woodland each year. Last year the Commission gave approval for 13,000 hectares of privately-owned woodland to be felled over the next five years. Practically all the woodlands which are felled will be replanted.
