Mr. Tony Lloyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many pensioners in Scotland(a) are dependent on income support and (b) have incomes less than £10 above income support levels.

Mr. Burt

The number of pensioners dependant on income support in Scotland is 170,000.

Using income bought to account for income support purposes, it is estimated that 95,000 pensioners in Scotland have income within £10 of income support thresholds.
