To ask the Secretary of State for Education what is his latest estimate of the cost(a) to public funds and (b) to private funds of the city technology colleges.

Total spending on city technology colleges by the Department since 1987–88 and projected expenditure to 1994–95 are shown in the following table. This includes both capital and recurrent expenditure, the latter is broadly equivalent to that incurred in other secondary schools.
