HC Deb 01 July 1994 vol 245 c746W
Mr. Byers

To ask the Secretary of State for Education how many complaints were received by his Department about(a) the Government's advertisements for grant-maintained status which appeared in January and February and (b) the information published by governing bodies about grant-maintained status in the run-up to a ballot taking place.

Mr. Robin Squire

The Department has received 61 letters concerning the advertising campaign, of which 54 have been letters of complaint. These figures include letters from correspondents who have written on more than one occasion.

Over the past 18 months, the Department has received 13 complaints about the accuracy of information disseminated by governing bodies prior to school ballots for grant-maintained status.
