HC Deb 31 January 1994 vol 236 c488W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about the progress in the discussions in the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, in relation to the benefit of all as set out in article 1 of the outer space treaty.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

This topic is debated by the committee and its legal sub-committee during their annual meetings.

The most recent development is the production of a working paper by a number of member states on the consideration of the legal aspects related to the application of one of the principles in article 1 of the 1967 outer space treaty: The exploration and use of outer space … shall be carried out for the benefit and in the interests of all countries".
