HC Deb 25 January 1994 vol 236 cc164-5W
Mr. Byers

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to reach a decision on whether to refer the convictions in the Carl Bridgewater case to the Court of Appeal.

Mr. Maclean

The latest representations about this case were received between June and December 1993. We understand that more are to follow. We have already asked the police to make inquiries into some of the matters raised. When those inquiries have been completed and any further representations have been considered, my right hon. and learned Friend will consider in the light of all the information available to him whether it would be right for him to refer any of the convictions to the Court of Appeal or to take any other action.
