§ Mr. DonohoeTo ask the President of the Board of Trade (1) what responses were received by his Department to his recent consultation on relaxation of the Furniture and Furnishings Fire (Safety) Regulations 1988 and the Night Wear Safety Regulations 1985; which bodies expressed support for relaxing these regulations; and if he will make a statement;
(2) if he will make a statement on what conclusions his Department has reached on the relaxation of the Furniture and Furnishings Fire (Safety) Regulations 1988 and the Night Wear Safety Regulations 1985.
§ Mr. McLoughlin[holding answers 20 January 1994]: The recent consultation exercise on the Furniture and Furnishings Fire (Safety) Regulations 1988—as amended of—and the Nightwear Safety Regulations 1985, in the context of the deregulation initiative, brought forward responses from a wide range of business and consumer interests. The detailed responses are being analysed and it is too early to reach conclusions on what changes—if any—are appropriate.
