To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if a condition will be imposed on companies obtaining franchises to run rail services to provide facilities for through ticketing with providers of other rail services.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if a condition will be imposed on companies obtaining franchises to run rail services to collaborate with other providers of rail services to offer cheap fares at off-peak times.

Mr. Freeman

No. We expect franchise operators to offer discounted off-peak travel as British Rail does now, because it will be in their commercial interest to do so.
