§ Mr. AtkinsThe only company currently authorised under the Radioactive Substances Act 1960—now 1993 —to dispose of low-level radioactive waste at Lumms lane is Magnesium Elektron Ltd.—MEL—which is authorised to dispose of solid waste to the on-site landfill, liquid waste to the River Irwell and gaseous waste to the atmosphere. Environmental monitoring data are collected from around MEL's landfill site as part of Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution's national environmental monitoring programme. I will arrange for a copy of the annual report of this programme to be made available in the Library of the House.
