Whether the Secretary of State for Scotland, in the exercise of his powers under Section 1(4) of the Crown Estate Act 1961, will direct the Crown Estate Commissioners to discontinue the leasing out of interceptory commercial salmon-netting stations around the Scottish coastline; and if not, why not.
§ Lord Fraser of CarmyllieMy right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Scotland considers that the management of the Crown Estate salmon fishings is best left to the Crown Estate Commissioners. Therefore he has no plans to issue a direction under the terms of the Crown Estate Act 1961.
