§ Mr. Neil HamiltonThe Department has powers, under the Insurance Companies Act 1982, to require insurance companies to furnish it, at specified times and intervals, with information about specified matters. These powers are used, as appropriate, in the light of the circumstances in individual cases. In addition, the Department maintains contact with companies through a programme of visits.
