To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) what machinery exists to safeguard general practitioner fundholders' choice of hospital;

(2) what representations she has received from fundholding general practitioners about choice of hospital for their patients.

I have frequent contact with general practitioner fundholding practices. General practitioner fundholders are able to purchase the best possible care for their patients from whichever hospital they judge best.
